GIMP daisies

 

 

 

 

I have been playing around with GIMP again. This is the original picture I started with. While I like it as is I wanted to see what I could do with it. Here are the results.

I used the colour balance feature to give the photo the pink colour. Then I used the border Script-fu, followed by the bevel Script -fu. Both of these are found under the Decor Script – fu list. When adding the bevel I kept the bump layer which kept the corner definition. Not bad for a novice, in my humble opinion.

Teenie Weenie Doodle Diary

A few months ago on a Yahoo group called Purple Ink there was a doodle diary swap. I didn’t participate but I thought it was a neat idea. There was also a discussion about doing teenie weenie art. So I thought of combining the two ideas and this is what I came up with. I did it on a 6 by 6 inch piece of black paper using various gel pens including glitter, metallic, pastel and neon pens. This was a fun project!

My husband’s Blog!

My husband just put up his first post on his blog. I like it a lot. Most of his blog will be about politics but this post was about our family. I am very proud of Kevin. So please check out his blog at kevinkinsella.wordpress.com.

Traveling Journal

I am now a part of a Mahima’s Traveling Journal project. This journal will go to Nepal, India, US and Canada. Each person will create a “shrine” for another person. I am making a shrine for Ahana (http://www.frommetome.blogspot.com/) and Mahima will be making a page for me. I am really looking forward to this. It is going to be a lot of fun.

Here’s a quote that came into my email. This really made me think. I like quotes that make you think. I try to ponder on thoughts such as this and I always come up with something different. I don’t know about other people but what comes to my mind as I read this will be different than what would have come to my mind yesterday. I don’t think this is strange but maybe it is. It is the same when I look at a picture. No matter what it is, I see different things every time I look at a picture. I never get tired of looking at the same picture or reading the same thing over and over.

I think it would be neat to take the same picture and write about it for seven days straight but each day writing something different. I will have to try this. Maybe this should be a writing challenge to myself and others. I think I am going to find a picture and glue it into my journal and try this. I will try to write different things and use different styles of prose and poetry. If other people read this and would like to try it, I would love to see what they come up with.

Spinning dragonfly!

This is another GIMP creation. I did not know what would happen when I animated this picture but I really liked the way it turned out. This is different from other graphics I’ve seen. I hope people like it.

Thoughts to Ponder!

I love quotes and thoughts. I come across interesting and thought provoking sayings as I surf the net and read. I have often thought that it is a shame that more children are not taught to memorize sayings in school the way students did in my mother’s day. There are so many great quotes that more people should know. Here is one that recently caught my interest.

Each day there is wonder and joy awaiting you. The growth you experience is just what is needed at this time. You are a student, and the teacher will appear.

 

Trying new things.

Here’s something new I worked up. I’m learning how to crop out elliptical sections of a photo and paste it on to a different background. I like the way this one worked out. Experimenting with this kind of stuff is fun.

More Digital Graphics

These are more GIMP creations. The top one is the original design. The design is done with what is called “Spirogimp”, then different effects were used to alter it.

My first animated graphic

It has been way too long since I posted anything here.

I’ve wanted to but every time I go to post I don’t like what I type. This time I’ve decided to not be so tough on myself. I have been working on a few things in my art and with GIMP.

This is something I created with GIMP. I love the way it turned out.This is my first animation. I want to try and play with this affect a little more. I hope you like it.
